& Tips
The name Antiparos is derived from the ancient Greek Anti (opposite) and Paros, referring to its location opposite the island of Paros. Antiparos is only 1.5 kilometers away from Paros, 10 minutes by ferry. From Athens to get to Antiparos island you must first reach Paros island either by plane or boat.
By
plane
There is no airport on Antiparos itself. The closest airport is Paros National Airport (PAS), with daily flights from Athens (about 40 minutes). From there, it is a 10 minute drive or taxi ride to Pounta port, followed by a 10 minute ferry crossing to Antiparos.
Important Notes
As Paros is not an international airport, checked luggage has to be picked-up and checked-in again in Athens airport. Delays to collect baggage can be long, please take it into account in your timing.
We recommend a 90-120 minutes layover time. If you travel with carry-on only, the usual recommended layover time of 60 minutes applies. If you take the ferry from Athens harbour, remember to allow enough time to get to the harbour from Athens airport.
An alternative route is to fly into Mykonos and thereafter take the ferry to Paros.
Athens is on the UTC +3 time zone.
By
Ferry
You can take a ferry from Athens (Piraeus or Rafina ports) to Paros (Parikia Port). A conventional ferry will take 4-5 hours whereas a high-speed ferry will take around 3 hours. Once in Paros, head to Pounta port for the short local ferry to Antiparos. With frequent sailings between Pounta, Paros, and Antiparos. In the summer, car ferries typically run every 20–30 minutes, with a journey time of about 7–15 minutes. The main ferry route is between the port of Pounta (on Paros) and Antiparos, though you can also catch a ferry from Parikia (the main port).
Please note that guests staying in Paros must plan their transportation accordingly. Ferry schedules are limited, so you will need to arrange your return either early in the evening or late at night/very early in the morning to ensure availability.
Ticket Info
Tickets are sold onboard the ferry (and since 2020, also at the port).
Cash (Euros) only is accepted. No credit/debit cards.
No advance booking is needed or available.
Operating Info
Ferries run daily, all year round (weather permitting).
If you see a ferry waiting at Pounta or Antiparos, you can ask to board.
If you’re bringing a car, drive onto the ferry first, then pay. During the high season, you may need to wait line as cars are not guaranteed a spot on the first ferry.
Bus
Yellow lines have bus connection to Paroikia
Cars
Taxis on Antiparos are very limited as there are only a handful on the whole island. Fares are fixed for most routes, but availability is the real challenge: often you’ll need to call in advance or wait.
We would highly recommend you to rent a car on the island. Renting a car will give you the freedom to explore Antiparos at your own pace.
